Description:
Alpine salt is, as the name suggests, a rock salt that is located deep under the solid rock layers of the Austrian Alps in the heart of Salzkammergut. The Alpine salt originated around 250 million years ago, due to climatic and geological changes, caused by the dehydration of a primeval ocean. The Austrian rock salt, the so-called mountain core, is the most valuable treasure in the Salzkammergut. The former sea salt was deeply locked up in the mountains during the formation of the Alps. To date, the salt, which contains many essential minerals, is well stored in the heart of Salzkammergutes, protected from all environmental influences. For many thousands of years, this natural alpine salt has been extracted by mountain men from only the best, most pure natural salt layers. since the Bronze Age the Alpine salt was transported to many parts of Europe via trade routes and Alpine salt was a very valuable raw material.
