Where is German rock salt mined?

German rock salt is mined in southern Germany at the site of the Zechstein Sea 200 million years ago. The salt deposits were formed during the Jurassic period in what is now northern and central Germany.

It lies at a depth of about 500 metres below the surface, far below the groundwater level. This means that the salt has never been exposed to environmental pollution and is therefore extremely pure.

The salt is extracted using a technique called chamber and pillar extraction. In this process, large chambers are excavated under the ground and salt pillars remain to support the roof. Rock salt is used in a variety of industries, including the food industry.

Application of Rock Salt as Weed Control
Difficult to process. Coarse grains and the question of how the soil absorbs it if it can't get wet. I miss the instructions. I use it against weeds.
