Did you know that the orange is a cross between Pomelo and Mandarin? It has been around for at least 2400 years and comes from Eastern China. Today it is the most cultivated fruit in the world and it grows in tropical and subtropical climates.

Production Process of ground Orange peels

Our ground orange peels (Aurantii dulcis pericarpium) come from Ghana. A fresh orange already tastes deliciously like sinas, but ground orange peels give off even more flavor. Orange peel powder is therefore ideally suited to give dishes a typical orange flavour. Delicious in combination with black or green tea or with pure rooibos. Orange granules can also be used with various types of fish and chicken.

Healthy properties of ground orange peels

Orange peels contain several phytonutrients including beta-carotene and some flavonoids (eg Naringenin). These flavonoids are antioxidants.

The whole peel of the orange is used to produce this powder. So both the orange outer layer and the white inner layer of the peel. The white inner layer contains some substances that taste bitter. The powder can therefore also have a slightly bitter taste.
