Palm oil is extracted from the fruits of the oil palm. The palm oil is used as a raw material for frying oil, food production (biscuits, chips, sauces, etc) but also as a soap substitute. The use of palm oil can be described as; versatile. It is used in so many products because of the qualities of the oil. It is relatively cheap, has a neutral smell and taste, has a high melting point and mixes well with other oils. Palm oil has the following advantages when used in a product: In cosmetics it has the advantage that it is easy to apply, chocolate becomes glossy and melts less quickly, in shampoo it restores oils in your hair and in peanut butter it is used as a binding agent.
