What is Bolivian Rose Salt?

Bolivian rose salt is extracted from the mines of Bolivia. It is a type of pink salt that is rich in minerals, including iron oxide, calcium, potassium and magnesium. The extraction process is similar to that of common table salt, but with a few important differences.

• For example, miners use picks and shovels instead of explosives to extract the salt. This results in a much purer product.
• The other main difference is that the miners only extract the top layer of salt, where the pink colour is. The lower layers, white or grey coloured salt, are left behind.

The end product is a beautiful pink salt with a slightly sweeter taste than ordinary salt.
